Postgraduate Affairs Department

The Postgraduate Affairs Department was established with the founding of Al-Hamdaniya University in 1435 AH/ 2014, as one of the departments of the Office of the Vice President for Academic Affairs. It is considered one of the most vital departments and fundamental pillars of the university. Its importance is evident in the work it accomplishes by following up on graduate students and receiving and responding to numerous letters from the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, other ministries, and universities.

Vision:

The department acts as a link between the departments and the ministry to advance the level of graduate studies in a way that serves the university, raises its scientific level, and accomplishes all matters related to graduate studies at the university.

Mission:

To provide all departments, divisions, and centers with official books containing instructions and regulations related to graduate studies and books directed by the ministry, and to resolve the obstacles facing graduate students from the time of their admission until they are awarded their degrees through close and fruitful cooperation with the Vice President for Academic Affairs, department heads, academic assistants, and graduate studies divisions, which together form an integrated and solid link.

Objectives:

The Graduate Studies Department aims to coordinate with other departments, divisions, and centers, as it is the link between the university’s academic departments, the university presidency, and the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research.

Administrative tasks of the department:

  • Developing postgraduate studies (higher diploma/master’s/doctorate).
  • Preparing and standardizing the annual postgraduate admission plan.
  • Supervising and reviewing academic leave requests for approval by the ministry and obtaining the necessary approvals.
  • Receiving and reviewing the files of applicants for postgraduate studies.
  • Issuing circulars and instructions related to postgraduate studies issued by the Ministry or the University.
  • Preparing the annual academic calendar for accepted students, following up on their status and continuation of studies, and canceling the acceptance of students who do not meet the requirements.
  • Continuously compiling statistics on students in terms of (number of admissions, enrollment, deferrals, extensions, and graduates).
  • Issuing university orders regarding the awarding of degrees to graduate students.
  • Receiving students and reviewers who wish to apply and following up on student complaints.
  • Archiving official incoming and outgoing books and university and administrative orders.
